New employment support measures

1. Ordinance no. 219/2024/1 of 23 September created and regulated the “Iniciar” internships measure. These are internships lasting 6 months, which cannot be extended, with a view to promoting the integration of young people and other unemployed people with qualifications at level 4 or 5 of the National Qualifications Framework.

The financial contribution from IEFP is based on unit costs, per month and per internship, as follows:

• Internship grant

• 80% contribution in the following situations:

o Internships for a profession with a gender underrepresentation;

o Internships located in inland areas;

o Internships for people with disabilities;

o When a permanent full-time employment contract is entered into with the trainee within 20 working days of completing the internship;

• A 65% contribution in all other situations.

Trainees will be entitled to a monthly internship grant of up to Eur. 916.67, meal allowance and work accident insurance. In the case of people with disabilities, they will be entitled to transport.

The period for submitting applications to the “Iniciar” Internships measure runs until 28 April 2025.

 

2. Ordinance no. 220/2024/1 of 23 September created and regulates the “+Emprego” measure, which consists of granting employers financial support for entering into a permanent full-time employment contract with an unemployed person registered with the IEFP.

Under this measure, the employer is entitled to financial support for hiring totalling Eur. 6.112,00. The financial support may be increased by 35% in the following situations:

a) Hiring a person with a disability;

b) Hiring a young person up to and including the age of 35;

c) Hiring a long-term unemployed person;

d) Positions located in inland areas;

e) Hiring unemployed people of the under-represented sex in each profession where there is no 33.3 % representation of one of the sexes and who appear on a specific list published by IEFP, I. P.

 

3. Ordinance no. 221/2024/1 of 23 September created and regulated the “+Talento” programme. These are internships lasting 6 months, which cannot be extended, with a view to promoting the integration of unemployed young people aged 35 or under and with qualifications equal to or higher than level 6 of the National Qualifications Framework.

The IEFP’s financial contribution is based on unit costs, per month and per person.

The financial contribution from IEFP is based on unit costs, per month and per internship, as follows:

• Internship grant

• 80% contribution in the following situations:

o Traineeships for professions with under-represented genders;

o Internships located in inland areas;

o Internships for people with disabilities;

o When a permanent full-time employment contract is entered into with the trainee within 20 working days of completing the internship.

• A 65% contribution in all other situations.

Trainees will be entitled to a monthly traineeship grant of up to Eur. 1,324.08, meal allowance and work accident insurance. In the case of people with disabilities, they will be entitled to transport.

The application period for “+ Talent” programme runs until 28 April 2025.
